I’m shipping on Southwest airlines (air cargo) for Tuesday evening arrival. Does anyone want to place an order for arrival then as well?
I didn’t understand the hype over this fish. The fancy name caught my attention but it struck me as just another name game to sell an average African tetra. But, as often happens, I ordered a few so I could see for myself. WOW! That’s all I can say. After a week in a so so decorated tank these fish are a knock out. And they are maybe 1/2 grown so they should only get better! I’ll have to order more of them so I can get a few in my West African display tank. These guys are worth every penny! I only have a few on hand.
Moenkhausia heikoi, another incredible “new” tetra to be recently discovered. Obviously the picture below is from the great German importer Aquarium Glaser and not my image. I have posted a short video of the actual fish that I brought in on my facebook page and my instagram account. They are currently in a bare bottom tank and look good. I can’t wait to pull a few out and get them into a decorated tank and see what they really look like!
Don’t miss out on getting a few yourself. I don’t think these will stay here long and I have no idea if any more will come into the US any time soon.

It’s time for an open house! Come tour the fish room and check out the HUGE selection of fish available. Hang out with some fellow fish geeks and have a beverage and and a snack. I’ll also have some new and used aquarium equipment, supplies, and tanks available for purchase as well as fish. You don’t need to RSVP but if you are able to it would help me plan and make sure I have enough refreshments on hand.

I just updated my in-stock list so please take a look.
Current Fish List
The shipping window for USPS Express (to your door shipping) is quickly closing! Temps here in Wisconsin have been in the low teens at night the past several days, to cold to safely ship. The good news is it looks like the next several days (Thursday-Friday-Saturday) will be much warmer here so I’ve set aside some time Thursday to get as many orders as I can sent out. If you want to be included in tomorrow’s ship out please get your order to me TONIGHT (11-14-18). I’m hopeful there will be another shipping window in the next 2 weeks but who knows! And after the first week of December I won’t ship door to door again until next year. Southwest airlines air cargo shipping will remain an option for shipping though other then when extremely cold temperatures set in.
I truly appreciate your continued support. Your orders make a huge difference to my business, to me, and to my family. Aquaticclarity is a small company run by a hobbiest supplying fish and a select number of drygoods to other hobbyists.
The aquarium industry as a whole has been going through some big changes again. Manufacturers have cut out the wholesalers and retail portion of the supply chain. You can often now go purchase a filter, heater, etc. on-line for less then I can buy the same item for wholesale.
The fish side of things is also experiencing change. LOTS of new sellers have come onto the market recently. They offer extremely low prices which is great for you but they don’t have much experience in treating and caring for newly imported fish or in safely shipping. That lack of knowledge, experience, and even more an unsustainable margin because of the low prices has most of those sellers dropping out of the market within 6 months or so. Unfortunately, two more new sellers pop up to replace that one.
I’m posting this because I’m hearing more and more rumbling from customers who have had bad experiences and are now gun shy to order fish from on-line sources. There ARE good on-line retailers out there! But do your homework. Ask around and find out what other people’s experiences have been with a place before you spend your hard earned money on a misidentified (over priced) fish or fish that just plain die right away.
I’ve been keeping fish for 35+ years now and in the retail side of the business for 25+ years. I started shipping fish about 15 years ago. No, I’m not perfect. But I take care of my customers when the occasional problem occurs. And I’d like to have the chance to provide you with good customer service, quality fish, and proper shipping techniques.
Pterophylum cf. scalare Rio Nanay F1
The Rio Nanay Black Diamond angelfish from Peru. The adult colors are mind blowing. I wasn’t able to capture the blue/green colors on the wild caught male pictured below (dad). Do a quick google image search to see what these guys look like in a well decorated tank.
I have a few F1 nickle-quarter body sized youngsters available for you right now. Truly a rare opportunity.
LOTS of pictures of the new stock are up on my facebook page and I’ll be taking more shots and posting them tonight.
