Winter Shipping and New Stock List

One last time?
The past few weeks have been cold so I have held off on shipping but next week is looking like it might be warm enough to ship with Southwest Airlines and USPS (if you fall into a next day arrival zip code from here).
I have gotten a ton of new fish in over the past several weeks and I just posted an updated in stock list (12/12/21). Rare wild caught Brazil Apistos, Cameroon fish including many wild caught Pelvicachromis and a few other cichlids and tetras (it’s been several years since the last import), fresh water pipe fish!!!!, several tank raised Apistogramma sp., and wild type Bettas (4-5 species).

I’m slowly but surely taking pictures of the fish I have in stock and getting those pictures added to the in-stock list. Click on the name of the fish to see the image. (More fish need a picture then those that have one so look for the Orange Text for the fish with images)

Apistogramma cacatuoides

It’s been a LONG time since I’ve been able to get in Apistogramma cacatuoides Orange Flash, and these are some good ones!

Apistogramma cacatuoides Orange Flash $40/pr

Apistogramma cacatuoides Orange Flash

In addition to the Orange Flash I also received some very attractive Apistogramma cacatuoides Super Red. Check out those females!!! And many of the males have some red coloration on their ventral fins as well although some don’t have much if any. The red color is also a nice rish deep red not the washed out orange red that you so often see.

Apistogramma cacatuoides Super Red $50/pr

I got into this because I was frustrated by the limited selection, poor quality, and improper ID and sexing of fish.

Fish Handling Advice

I would highly recommend you don’t drip acclimate. As the fish release waste (ammonia) in the water the pH also drops. That is good as ammonia becomes less toxic the lower the pH. But as you drip acclimate the pH rises and the ammonia becomes more and more toxic. Just allow the bags to warm or cool as needed and then open the bags, pull the fish out (or pour them into a net) tossing the toxic shipping water, and get the fish into the tank/clean water ASAP. Scarry, I know. But that is how I handle all of my fish. MUCH better results this way.
